Instructor Qualifications For Providers
Instructors of real estate and inspector qualifying courses (pre-license) must have:
- A college degree in real estate or inspection and three years of teaching or training experience; or
- Five years of active experience as a license holder (five years of active experience as a broker is required to teach the Real Estate Brokerage course) and three years of teaching or training experience; or
- The equivalent of the above as determined by the provider after consideration of the instructor’s professional experience, research, authorship, or other professional endeavors in real estate or inspection.
Instructors of real estate and inspector elective continuing education (CE) courses must:
- Be competent in the subject matter to be taught; and
- Have the ability to teach effectively.
Instructors of Legal Update I & II must:
- Satisfy requirements outlined above to teach qualifying courses; and
- Complete the Legal Update I & II instructor training and receive a passing grade of at least 80% on the final exams for each course.
Instructors of Broker Responsibility must:
- Have at least five years of active experience as a licensed Broker in Texas and three years of teaching or training experience; and
- Complete the Broker Responsibility instructor training and receive a passing grade of at least 80% on the final exam.
Instructors of the 40 Hour Texas Practicum (QE), the Ride Along Course Session (CE) and the Inspector Legal & Ethics SOP Review Course (CE) must have:
- At least five years of active experience as a Texas professional inspector; and either have
- Performed at least 200 real estate inspections as a Texas professional inspector; or
- Three years of experience in teaching or sponsoring apprentice or real estate inspectors.
