Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great holiday filled will peace and joy. During the holidays, I like to take time to reflect on the past year and the agency's direction. I am grateful for so many things during these times, including a fantastic team of employees, volunteers, and appointed Commission members.
Legislative Session Kick-Off
The 87th legislative session kicked off Tuesday, January 12, 2021. We are tracking filed bills and have a system to review all bills that have a potential impact on our license holders. This will be a unique session, but only time will tell what it may look like.
Education Provider Audit Program
The Education Division will begin auditing qualifying education providers and courses through distance education this month. This audit program's launch is exciting because it allows more engagement with our providers and quality control of education programs and courses. More information is on our website.
Upcoming Meetings
The agency will have a hectic few weeks this January. We will soon decide if we are hosting our meetings virtually using Microsoft Teams or in person in the coming months. Meeting information dates and agendas are always available on our website under "meetings and minutes."
Comment Periods
The comment period for proposed rules from the November meetings ends on January 10. We rely on feedback from you, our license holders, as we go through the rulemaking process. Thank you to those who have taken the time to give us your feedback.
I want to thank you for all your continued professionalism in these times. Last year was different from expected, but license holders continue to provide real estate services with great care and help Texas consumers achieve their dreams.
I look forward to another fantastic year ahead, hopefully seeing you all in person soon!
