The Broker Responsibility Working Group (BRWG) met April 13 and made two proposed recommendations that will be discussed during the next TREC Workshop on May 3. Feedback from the TREC Workshop discussion will be part of the next BRWG meeting in July.
Proposed Two-Day Response Times for Both Brokers and Sales Agents
The BRWG proposed that the Commission consider a rule change to require sales agents, instead of only brokers, to respond to the license holder’s principals and license holders representing other parties in real estate transactions within two calendar days. A principal includes clients or customers.
Proposed Increase to Required Oversight of Sales Agents’ First-Time Brokerage Activities
The BRWG proposed that the Commission consider amending 535.2(i)(5) to increase the number of times a broker must ensure assistance and coaching for a new brokerage activity performed by an agent from one time to three times. Specifically, the BRWG suggests amending the rule to replace “for the first time” with “for the first three times.”
