Chelsea Buchholtz is executive director of the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) and the Texas Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board (TALCB). She is the first woman in agency history to assume the role of executive director. Prior to this position, Buchholtz was TREC general counsel.
Before joining TREC, Buchholtz was deputy director of operations for the Community Development and Revitalization Division of the Texas General Land Office. Buchholtz also worked for the Texas Juvenile Justice Department, moving from deputy general counsel to general counsel to chief of staff, and served as assistant general counsel and a policy advisor to Governor Rick Perry. She began her legal career clerking for Justice Phylis Speedlin on the Texas Court of Appeals, Fourth District, in San Antonio.
Buchholtz earned her undergraduate degree from Abilene Christian University and her law degree from Pepperdine University School of Law. She completed the Governor’s Executive Development Program in 2013. In her spare time, Chelsea enjoys the outdoors, cooking, reading and spending time with her husband and young daughter.
